The Full Story
About
Nurturing a child is an exciting journey. I remember when I first learned that we would have the privilege of shaping an impressionable tiny human. We were thrilled, eager, and, like any parent, we wanted the best for our child. Our baby arrived just before summer, and our hearts were filled with joy. We delighted in learning about our new baby and diligently researched everything we needed to ensure their health and well-being.
Fast forward to their six-month checkup, the milestone check at the pediatrician. This appointment turned our research into overdrive. Our child wasn't meeting at least two of their milestones, and I went into panic mode. I read incessantly, searching for ways to support my child. It was a constant struggle, hearing conflicting messages: "Your son may have a developmental delay" and "Every child develops at their own pace." Unsolicited advice poured in relentlessly. I was exhausted and overwhelmed, feeling like I was drinking from a fire hydrant. I wanted to enjoy my child without the constant barrage of opinions on what
I should or shouldn't do.
This site was created for moms, dads, parents, guardians, and anyone who cares for a young mind and body, to provide resources and support. My advice? Use these resources to enjoy your child, understand them, and celebrate their unique selves. Don't let milestones and developmental delays become a shackle. The more you release your fears of the unknown and explore activities and fun things with your child,
the better it will be for both of you.
My experience is not unique. I let go of my fears of having a child with developmental delays. I exposed
my child to various activities, conducted multiple tests with healthcare providers, and bonded with them.
The outcome? A happy child who became fearless in exploring the world and expressing themselves while having fun. My child's self-expression may not look the same as another child's, but I know they are happy, developing, and thriving in their own way. Embrace this journey, for some, it’s once in a lifetime.
